Golestan operates on a quarterly schedule:
- Fall: September-November
- Winter: December-February
- Spring: March-May
- Summer: June-August
We are currently accepting applications for preschool programs for Fall 2014 and beyond. Also accepting applications for after-school and summer camp programs for spring and summer 2013 and beyond.
Children may enroll in any of the following programs, or combination of the two, not to exceed 12 hours per session per week in each program.
Each age group may participate in the programs below – all lesson plans follow a monthly themed schedule that applies to the entire school, but are adapted by each class to be developmentally appropriate – all children are encouraged to understand the world around them through exploration and experimentation.
- Art (developing emotional, cognitive, and motor development through art)
- Language (basic alphabet up to reading and writing)
- Movement (dance and yoga)
- Rhythm (learning classical Iranian rhythm and traditional songs)
- Nature (gardening, environmental sciences, and ecology)
- Performing Arts (theater, song/dance performance, puppet shows)
- Practical Life (cooking, courtesy, general social sciences)
- Science (basic physics, chemistry, and biology)
All programs are in Persian/Farsi only and are conducted within the framework of the general daily Golestan heuristic philosophy.
Children that are not fluent in spoken Persian/Farsi must enroll for at least 4 programs per week. Children that are not exposed to Persian/Farsi on a daily basis at home must enroll in multiple programs for a total of 5 days attendance per week.
“It’s amazing what transformations the kids have gone through in such a short time at Golestan. Immersing the kids in [this] environment has helped them become comfortable speaking Persian. Within these bright children, the desire to learn more grows with each enriching day at Golestan.” – Former Golestan teacher’s aide
Golestan Kids admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship, and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Per the Alameda County licensing board, no student may attend more than 12 hours per week per program in each three month session.
